Texas Crime Victim Legal Assistance

Crime Victims in Texas have legal resources available to monitor and participate in the criminal prosecution process.  Victims may be affected by the early release of convicts and have legal rights to participate in hearings regarding the granting of parole.

Crime Victims also have rights to be compensated for their damages resulting from the criminal conduct.  The Legal Hotline for Texans provides assistance in these areas.  Callers will be informed of their rights including:

• Governmental compensation
• Rights to receive information regarding the criminal process
• Eligibility requirements for public benefit and health care programs
