Disclaimer: The information presented in these pages is for educational purposes only, and does not constitute legal advice. Every case is different, and the correct legal answer always depends on the facts of the individual case. The Employee Rights Project has developed six pamphlets on basic legal issues that affect Texas employees. These pamphlets may be downloaded and reproduced for any non-commercial purpose, as long as authorship is credited to the Bexar County Legal Aid Association.
As an educational resource for workers and for legal services staff, ERP also recommends the Worker's Rights Curriculum developed by the National Immigration Law Center and the AFL-CIO. The curriculum and instructor's handbook contain excellent information about Federal employment law issues with a particular emphasis on the rights of immigrant workers. For more information, contact the National Immigration Law Center, 1102 S. Crenshaw Boulevard, Suite 101, Los Angeles, CA 90019; 213/938-6452 (phone) or 213/964-7940.
The Employee Rights Project has developed a series of handouts for employment discrimination litigants who have filed suit in federal court pro se (without an attorney) after receiving a right to sue letter from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. These handouts may be downloaded and reproduced for any non-commercial purpose, as long as authorship is credited to the Bexar County Legal Aid Association.
WARNING: These materials give specific information about the procedures that a litigant must follow in a suit in the San Antonio Division of the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. Different requirements may apply under the Local Rules and standing orders of other federal courts outside the Western District of Texas.
The Employee Rights Project is an Americorps*VISTA project of the Bexar County Legal Aid Association.
