Law Clerk, Crime Victims
The Crime Victims Program provides critical legal services and safety planning to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, abuse, exploitation, and trafficking across Texas. Our attorneys provide survivors with legal assistance and representation for protective orders; criminal justice advocacy; lease terminations; family law matters; and crime victims compensation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
You’ll work directly with our attorneys to provide support on cases through legal research, drafting, and case preparation. In addition, the law clerk will also have opportunities for court accompaniment for hearings or trials in the Austin-area.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN
You will be working closely with our team of six attorneys, who practice civil and criminal law, to serve vulnerable survivors throughout Texas. You will gain exposure to protective order applications and have the opportunity to observe civil and criminal hearings virtually and, if possible, in-person in the greater Austin area. You will observe and work alongside attorneys as they prepare for court hearings. In addition, you’ll learn about:

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPENSATION
Currently enrolled in an accredited law school. 2L or 3L students preferred.
This is an unpaid internship. Reporting and oversight available for course credit.
