Texas Veterans Legal Aid Week: Education on Civil Legal Issues Unique to Veterans and Their Families
AUSTIN, TX, November 2019 —This year's Texas Veterans Legal Aid Week begins Sunday, November 10, and runs through Saturday, November 16. During this week honoring our Texas Veterans, Texas Legal Services Center will focus our efforts on educating the general community and the legal community on common civil legal problems Texas Veterans and their families face. Additionally, we'll point to legal and legal adjacent resources for veterans, our in-house legal services offered to veterans and their families, and law clinics catering to veterans happening around the state.
To further engage the greater legal community, we'll be hosting a free Continuing Legal Education (CLE) titled Assisting Our Texas Veterans: Discharge Upgrades and the Correction of Military Records. The webinar will introduce the financial, economic, and social impact of a less than honorable discharge characterization — then explain step-by-step how to remedy such wrongful characterizations. We'll also go over the devastating effects of post-traumatic stress syndrome, how PTSD impedes access to benefits, and how attorneys can best communicate with those afflicted.

About Texas Legal Services Center
Texas Legal Services Center (TLSC) is a statewide legal aid nonprofit serving some of Texas' most vulnerable populations since 1977.
