The Legal Researcher, TexasLawHelp–Legal Aid Content Intelligence (LACI) is responsible for helping TexasLawHelp manage its content by annotating public-facing legal information. TexasLawHelp has hundreds of articles and guides explaining real-life civil legal issues affecting Texans. You will work alongside Texas Legal Services Center staff attorneys to review content and help ensure that website visitors receive plain-language, up-to-date legal information. Training will be provided.
Essential Functions
The Legal Researcher, TexasLawHelp–Legal Aid Content Intelligence (LACI) will perform the following work:
Conduct legal research to verify sources of authority
Append legal authorities to materials in TexasLawHelp’s content management system using LACI
Provide all information needed for TLSC reporting in a prompt manner
Ensure all work is completed in an organized and timely manner
Education/Licensure (Required):
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of one year of legal experience.
Knowledge/Skills (Required):
Strong legal research skills
Strong time management and organizational skills, with close attention to detail
Ability to learn and follow the conventions in the TexasLawHelp.org style guide
Strong written communication skills
Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Word, Outlook, Excel, and Planner
Experience using virtual meeting software such as Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams
Experience (preferred):
J.D. degree, paralegal credential, or current enrollment in an American Bar Association-accredited law school
Licensure with the State Bar of Texas
Experience in the nonprofit sector
Knowledge of the Texas civil legal system
Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat tools
Comfort working in, or ability to learn, web content management systems (e.g., Drupal, WordPress, Wix)
Demonstrated interest in public service
Familiarity with issues related to poverty and barriers to accessing justice
Details:
Expected project dates: June 15, 2026, to August 31, 2026 (or as otherwise agreed)
Work hours: 20 to 39.5 hours per week
Rate: $50 to $75 per hour depending on qualifications.
The person in this position must maintain the highest ethical and professional standards; support TLSC’s overall mission; and comply with all grant requirements, regulations, standards, and confidentiality requirements.
This is a grant-funded position.
