Unable to afford a private attorney, a widow turns to TLSC to ensure there were no gaps between her short- and long-term protective orders.
I was referred to TLSC from the crisis intervention unit after a domestic violence incident. I had a short-term, 30-day emergency protective order that was automatically granted after the physical assault. I wanted a long-term order.
As a widow, single parent, and someone only working part-time, I couldn’t afford an attorney. At the same time, though, I desperately needed extended protection from the assailant. I contacted this amazing group, and the attorney immediately got an ex parte (temporary) order, so there were no gaps between the expired and long-term Emergency Protective Order (EPO).
They are truly a huge blessing to myself and my family.
The attorney was very attentive, patient, and compassionate to my circumstances. They filed the two-year EPO, and it was granted before the temporary one had expired. I was so relieved to get the much-needed order and pay nothing for her extensive work on my case!
I don’t know what I would’ve done had this organization not been there to assist and get everything taken care of in a timely manner. They are truly a huge blessing to myself and my family. I cannot ever thank them enough. They will forever hold a special place in my heart.
