What inspired you to become involved?

Working with TLSC aligned with my interest in making law accessible to everyone. Especially in regard to landlord-tenant law, so many people have to deal with legal disputes without the resources to get the legal help they deserve. Maintaining a resource like TLSC helps to reduce this disparity and create a more equitable legal system.

What is your favorite part of volunteering with Texas Legal Services Center (TLSC)?

In trying to summarize and simplify law for TLSC's self-help resources, I found that it was an excellent way to learn about law myself. As a result, I've gained knowledge about several areas of Texas law I never imagined I would encounter. The work has also helped me with the skill of conveying complex legal ideas in an accessible way.

How to Volunteer with TLSC

Volunteering offers you the opportunity to make a difference, in your career and in the lives of low-income Texans.

  • Our program with the ABA, Texas Free Legal Answers, welcomes volunteers on a rolling basis. In this role, pro bono attorneys volunteer remotely on their own schedule.

  • Throughout the year, opportunities with our other programs are posted on Volunteers page.
