What inspired you to become involved?
I first heard about TLSC while looking for opportunities to
become involved in the Houston legal support community. I wanted to apply my interests to give back to the community that had welcomed me during my undergraduate years.
How has volunteering with TLSC impacted your life?
Volunteering with TLSC has broadened my perspective on how technology can be used to serve the public good. It has shown me how my skills can have real-world impact beyond traditional tech applications, especially in making legal resources more accessible for underserved Texans. The experience has also made me more intentional about seeking opportunities where I can use my skills to contribute to projects that create meaningful impact.
What is your favorite part of volunteering with Texas Legal Services Center (TLSC)?
My favorite part of volunteering with TLSC has been seeing how my computer science background can help make legal services more accessible. It has been an incredible way to combine my interests in technology and the law to make a meaningful impact on the Texas community. I appreciate that everyone is given the opportunity to contribute, regardless of background, by applying their unique skills to support the center's work.
What kind of volunteer work did you perform?
I volunteered with TLSC by supporting projects focused on leveraging technology to improve access to legal resources. My work included building dashboards to analyze user behavior and website traZic to better understand how Texans navigated the TLSC [TexasLawHelp.org] site, as well as designing automated document templates to make it easier for self-represented individuals to access and use legal information.

How to Volunteer with TLSC
Volunteering offers you the opportunity to make a difference, in your career and in the lives of low-income Texans.
Our program with the ABA, Texas Free Legal Answers, welcomes volunteers on a rolling basis. In this role, pro bono attorneys volunteer remotely on their own schedule.
Throughout the year, opportunities with our other programs are posted on Volunteers page.
